Saving $100 for the month of February—How'd I do?

Friends,

We've come dangerously close to the end of my money saving experiment for the month of February, and I guess the question that you guys are all wondering is, how much did I actually save?

Well friends, using all of the tips we've worked together to come up with thus far, I'd say I've not spent about $60 less than what I usually spend, which is nothing to sneeze at.

How'd I do it?

  • Using mint.com to track all of my expenses and seeing exactly where my money has gone.
  • Spending less money by scoping out deals and using coupons to get items bundled with things that I have to buy.
  • Scheduling and planning my shopping trips - going to the store after I've eaten to minimize impulse buying, and making a list so I get in and out and only buying things I need (this tip probably saved me a great deal)
  • And finally, though I didn't factor this into the final equation, saving a portion of my paycheck and putting it towards my savings to build up funds in the long run.

Whew. And that was all in just a few weeks.

All in all, saving money is never a futile excercise no matter what the outcome. And I think I'll use my $60 or so dollars that I would've spent toward other things on something awesome. Maybe my savings, or maybe a custom-made hat to fit my unusually large head. :D

Did you use any of these tips to save some extra cash? Let us know in the comment section! Oh, and don't forget that every time you comment and sign up for E-Updates you'll be entered into a drawing to win a 2 Year Flickr Pro Account! Boo yah!
