Moving out, moving on: Now is a good time to downsize

May 11, 2009 Today I have finished the last of my undergraduate finals. Woo hoo, right?
As I prepare to move from my on campus dwelling to a real apartment, I have to stop and asses my situation.
Over the last 4 years I have accumulated junk. A whole lotta junk.
So what's an hombre to do? If I want to make a nice, fresh, start, I should probably get rid of some of the clutter that has been surrounding me for so long. I've come up with some tips that will hopefully help me to open up more space and maybe earn a lil' cash along the way!
- Sell back your books. Easiest way to get rid of some of the biggest offenders of non-use. For the best prices, sell them back before the last day of class. Most bookstores offer more money when they have less of the book in stock.
- Give away your clothes. Really, you aren't going to wear that sweater your aunt gave you for Christmas. Be true to yourself. Give it away.
- Throw or give away things you don't use. If you haven't used it in the past month, you don't need it.
- A lot of residence halls on campus will have drop off boxes for residents to deposit useful items that they may not need anymore. These boxes will usually be taken to a Goodwill or Salvation Army. Help somebody out!
- Sell it. Put it on eBay, Amazon, craigslist or Facebook Marketplace. One man's trash...
Got any ideas on how to de-clutterize? Please, please, please leave it in the comment section!
